Veterans · Service Dogs
A trained partner.
A lifetime
of support.
We bring veterans and carefully trained service dogs together — and stand behind the partnership for the dog’s lifetime, with food, insurance, and veterinary care. Not temporary. Not random. Permanent.
Our commitment
For years, this support happened quietly through our companies and the people we knew.
It mattered, but it couldn’t scale, and it couldn’t promise anything.
The Warrior and Working Animals Foundation was built to change that: to make support official, repeatable, and permanent — so a veteran who receives a dog never has to wonder whether the help will still be there next year.
Lifetime care, not a one-time gift
Help that isn’t random, and isn’t temporary — support that’s official, repeatable, and built to last.
What we do
Three ways we serve.
Every program runs on the same standard: careful matching, real accountability, and care that doesn’t stop at placement.
Service Dog Placements
High-standard matching between veterans and trained service dogs — backed by lifelong care.
Military Working Animal Support
Resources for the organizations that train, rehome, and care for retired military and working canines.
Equine Recovery Programs
Funding for veteran-centered programs where horses play a real role in recovery and connection.
The difference
What "for life" actually means
Most programs end at placement. Ours doesn’t. When we match a veteran with a dog, we take on the cost of keeping that dog healthy — so the choice is never between care and cost.
Food
Covered for life
Health insurance
Covered for life
Medically necessary
Covered for life
A signed, standing commitment — so the veteran carries the bond, and we carry the bill.
The veteran carries the bond. We carry the cost.
WWAF was created to make that support official, repeatable, and scalable.
Where our story begins
Meet Cairo
Cairo is a Belgian Malinois, bred and trained in partnership with Colina Canine of Medellín, Colombia, and placed with Chris Reder — U.S. Navy veteran and founder of DTOM 22/0.
Before placement, the Foundation funded two trips to Colombia so Chris and Cairo could train side by side and build the bond that makes a placement hold. Cairo is named after the military working dog from the 2011 Navy SEAL raid — calm under pressure, loyal, steady when it matters most.
He's the first. More are on the way.
For partners
A model built to scale.
WWAF is backed by Summit Animal Health, a nationwide animal-health company, and works alongside DTOM 22/0, a 501(c)(3) serving veterans. Support here isn’t a donation into the unknown — it’s tied to a defined output you can count.
Defined output
Every placement fully matched and screened.
Lifetime accountability
Care costs are carried for the life of every dog.
Trusted hands
Run by people who already do this work, not a new experiment.
Transparent impact
Every contribution has a defined purpose.
Built to serve. Committed for life.
For veterans, working animals, and the people who stand behind them.

Whether you’re seeking support or ready to help provide it, there’s a clear way to take the next step.
For veterans
Request a service dog.
If you’re a veteran managing PTSD, TBI, or the weight of what you carried home, start here. Every request is reviewed with care and discretion.
For supporters
Partner with us.
Fund a placement, back the lifetime-care commitment, or partner as an organization. Your support turns directly into matched dogs and covered care.
